Here It Is.... From Bill Blackstone

OK here it is. I keep getting asked how do I continually lift heavy, day in, day out. Do I ever deload? Well it is easy.

Do you remember when you were a child (39 does not count)? You were constantly told what you can not and should not do. As an adult, we read magazines, newsletters and other such sources telling us what our limitations are. "Don't lift this, and don't lift that". "You cant, you wont." AHHH fooy!

All these so-called experts. Do they know you? Your body? Your capabilities? No, they don't!

I'm sure you have been told or heard of somebody being told they will never ______ again, then Poof! They go way beyond the expectations of the normal being. That's what makes you special. You're a power lifter for goodness sakes - not average Joe drinking beer and farting, watching others "DO". Your the Doer. Just do what you envision. If you can envision yourself doing the lift, chances are you will eventually do it.

I personally envision every set before I go at it. I walk my self through the lift in my mind. I tell myself, I WILL MAKE THE LIFT! Never, do I use a negative. "I won't, can't, might not." I talk myself through my sticking points and what I should do before the lift starts. I'm telling my brain what to do if this or that happens.

Now for the fatigue of everyday heavy lifting. I don't think about it. At night, when I suffer, I think about why I suffer. I daydream myself to sleep, of the rewards I can achieve. Though all the Glory goes to GOD, I still like to think some is meant for me.

What it comes down to is this. I am a doer, not a wisher or a dreamer. I set my goals high but achievable. Within reach. They are implanted in my mind. Only once have I left a competition saying I needed to do more work and less excuses of why I can't. I promise you that is and will be the last time.
